The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON, officially renamed the national Women Development Center to the Maryam Babangida National Center for Women Development.
In recognition of the remarkable contributions made by the Former First Lady, Her Excellency Dr. (Mrs.) Maryam Babangida, to the lives of ordinary Nigerians, particularly at the grassroots level through her pet program, Better Life for Rural Dwellers, the First Lady honored her legacy. Her Excellency Oluremi Tinubu acknowledged Late Dr. (Mrs.) Maryam Babangida as an icon who redefined women’s participation in national development through the National Center for Women Development (NCWD).

Representatives of the Babangida Family, Mohammed Babangida, and his brother, Aminu Babangida, expressed gratitude to the First Lady for honoring their late mother. Mohammed, speaking on behalf of the family, extended appreciation to all the women who contributed to the realization of the renaming of the center.
